Cable Triceps Pushdown (Straight Bar)

Execution Guide

  1. Stand facing the cable machine and grip the straight bar with an overhand grip.
  2. Keep your elbows pinned to your sides throughout.
  3. Push the bar down by extending your arms until they are fully straight.
  4. Squeeze the triceps hard at full extension.
  5. Let the bar return slowly up to about chest level.

Range of Motion

Forearms at chest level to arms fully extended.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • ×Flaring the elbows out
  • ×Leaning over the bar and using body weight
  • ×Not achieving full arm extension
